Bulls for Sale
We develop bulls differently here at Deep Grass Graziers. They are grown slowly on high quality forages, baleage, and hay. We believe this prevents feet and fertility issues that can arise from an energy intense ration which balloons bulls to fat, eye appealing proportions in very little time. Its cheaper and easier to put bulls in a lot and feed them a ration, but when you get your bull home and he starts breeding cows, many producers watch their big strapping bull 'melt' under the work of breeding and the lack of energy in our southeastern grasses. A high energy ration also doesn't discriminate against those bulls that are not efficient pasture converters. Our bulls work for their meal ticket, and its easy to separate the efficiency converters from the average.
Our genetics have been sourced from lineages built around great cows. We breed for reproductive longevity, which promotes fertility and structural soundness first and foremost. We recommend our genetics for customers who want to save or sell replacement heifers, and build their herd around moderate-sized, efficient cows that are great at turning grass into profit.
Our bulls are not terminal. Our steer calves have adequate growth, but we are not trying to breed giant cows that are more costly to maintain. Consequently, most of our bulls frame scores are from 3 to 5, and will weigh between 1700-2000 lbs at full maturity on a pasture diet. Full maturity occurs between 4 and 5 years of age developed our way. Most of our bulls are low birthweight, and safe to use on heifers. The females from our bulls will mature at weights between 1000-1300lbs, depending on frame score and BCS. Our goal is to wean over 50% of our dam's bodyweight in to and throughout her teenage years. We aim to do this with minimal inputs and under a 45 day breeding window.
We are not in this business to brag about our weaning weights, we are in this business to make money, improve our soils, and enjoy doing it. Our bulls are a great value compared to more popular "grass genetics" that have been well marketed over the past few years, and really thrive in our Southeastern soils and forages.

Most of the bulls developed over the winter of '23/'24 survived on low-medium quality hay. This includes the young bulls. About a month ago we pulled the coming long yearlings and two year olds and moved them to winter annuals. The gas pedal is now on the floor and they are doing what they were bred to do: thrive on grass. We have 25 bulls available, mostly Black Angus and Red Angus and a couple South Poll/Red Angus and Senepol/Angus. Most of our bulls are heifer safe. We consider ourselves one of the better kept secrets in the SE for maternal, low input Angus and Angus cross genetics. We don't want to be a secret, but don't market as well as our competitors from other regions. Don't judge our bulls on their price tag. We hope they are more expensive every year as more folks come to learn what a value they are for producing sons that can grade on grass, and daughters that work most places East of the MS and some West. DGG 140K- $3500
Forage only 2 year old bull. This bull has had nothing but hay for two winters until early FEB when he saw his first grazing. He is compensating well but still has some growing left to fill out his pedigree. Just passed BSE and ready to go. He will become a balanced sire having enough frame and growth to sell solid steers and enough maternal to make some fine daughters. He's docile and trained to a single wire. 4.5 frame score. RAA 4714113
DGG 30j-$4000
Frame 4.75. Scrotal 41cm. Extremely docile. He's out of one of the strongest cow families Oliver Angus has ever produced. 41--281--491. We bought 491 a few years back and she has worked tremendously well here. We couldn't decide if we wanted to keep him or his brother, sold his brother last week, so we will likely use this bull this season unless someone decides that he must go for a ride.
DGG 30j's dad, Breton of Wye. Owned by John Cotton and Spencer Oliver. Picture of 30j coming soon.

Herd Sires for Sale
After a few years of usage, we are moving on to sons of the bulls available below to continue moving our herd forward. We believe these bulls can produce sons and daughters that will do the same for you. All bulls will have a breeding soundness exam prior to shipping. Prices are picked up at farm.
PSE 17c-$3500
PSE 17c has spent most of his time breeding cows up the road at a good friends place, Jeffrey Cramer, The Farm at Watermelon Road. 17c's calves have early punch, incredible muscling, and are extremely efficient at turning low energy grasses into pounds of beef. He's one of only a handful of pure New Zealand bulls left in the country. He was raised here on our farm with a production partnership with Pinebank Angus, a historic program you should read about. He's docile, has the characteristic incredible feet and legs of a Pinebank bull, and fills the viewfinder with a lot of meat. PSE 17c is a frame 5 bull that weighs between 1900-2000 lbs. 41cm scrotal.
DGG 101G-$3750
DGG 101G was the top son of my Red Angus RAF T189 Medal 147a. I have an entire crop of 1/2 sib daughters that have thrived here, as black, red gene carrier Angus. I've used 101G for the past few years and am offering him to freshen the gene pool of your black or red cattle with a great pedigree and phenotype. Great hair, good depth, extremely masculine curly crest, and a real female maker. His mother, O Miss 147 159 233 AAA 20186359 was a small cow that raised big calves, including 2 tremendous bulls. Just passed he's BSE. He's a 3.5 frame bull with 42cm scrotal, docile, and really good feet.
DGG 101g's dam, Oliver 233.
DGG 701G-$3500
His mother was another cow I brought in from a program I admired. Ronnie Shelby of Shelby Cattle Company had been selecting OCC genetics to thrive on fescue in central Tennessee. He had great success with a bull called OCC Unlimited, who at 10 years of age strolled around with ease like a cat that owned the place. Unlimited's daughters all had the same look: feminine, slick, and moderate with incredible udders. Check out his pedigree if you don't think he stamped them. DGG 701g is a very correct, moderate bull. Good rib shape with a full rear quarter. While I've never had any issues with him, as I handle him with respect, he's not as quiet as my other herd bulls. He will follow you with a bucket or bag of cow treats. He is a bull that I believe will fix udders in one generation, and should moderate cow size in herds with too much frame. (3.5 frame score) He is a sleep-all-night heifer safe bull.
